Honoring service

Veterans & Military Families

Albanella Home is developing a veteran-sensitive pathway for older veterans and their families: one that reduces fragmentation, strengthens independence and connects people with qualified resources.

A Pathway Within Albanella, Not a Separate Place

Albanella Home is being designed for older adults of every background.

The veteran-sensitive pathway is being developed within Albanella’s broader residential model for older adults, so that service history is recognized and the support around it is coordinated rather than scattered.

How the Approach Is Being Designed

Four commitments shape the pathway and how it is intended to work alongside public and community systems.

Accessible

Accessible housing, disability adaptations, mobility and fall prevention are planned into the model, not added afterwards.

Trauma-informed

Practices trained for trauma, dementia and cultural diversity are among the initiative’s strategic objectives.

Culturally sensitive

Cultural sensitivity and a bilingual caregiver workforce are part of the wider Albanella model.

Coordinated

The pathway is planned to work with qualified public and community systems, not in isolation from them.

What the Pathway Is Planned to Include

These are the areas being developed. They describe intent and design, not services currently in operation.

Home and housing stability

Veteran-centered supportive housing and aging-in-place planning

Housing stabilization and coordination to help prevent homelessness

Accessible housing, disability adaptations, mobility and fall prevention

Daily life, health and wellbeing

Coordinated transportation for VA appointments, medical appointments and community activities

Nutrition, wellness, telehealth access and digital literacy

Mental health and suicide-prevention referrals through qualified partners

Connection and outreach

Peer connection, civic participation, recreation and intergenerational activities

Targeted outreach to women veterans, veterans with disabilities, and rural, minority or socially isolated veterans

Families and Caregivers

Caregiver education for family caregivers, respite planning and support groups are being developed within this pathway, where the people carrying the weight of care are veterans’ spouses, adult children and relatives.

Family partnership across the wider Albanella model is described on Living at Albanella.

Navigation and Referral, Not Benefit Administration

The pathway is being designed to help veterans and families reach the right accredited representative, and to keep appointments, transportation and daily support coordinated around that process.

What it is planned to do

Refer to accredited representatives and organizations, and coordinate the practical support around a claim or benefit process.

What it will not do

Determine eligibility, prepare or file claims, or administer any government benefit.

VA accreditation

Albanella Home does not claim VA accreditation. Assistance with benefits or claims will be provided only by, or referred to, representatives and organizations accredited by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

This pathway is in development

Each part will be developed within its corresponding legal and professional scope, and delivered through qualified partners where credentials, licenses or accreditation are required.

Let’s stay connected.
